Th JF Ranch is owned by the Forest Service but has been leased to a cattle raising operator. When visited the ranch house was unoccupied and there was no recent evidence of cattle in the area. There is a cinder block ranch house, a wooden barn, horse shoeing equipment, mesquite post corrals and other ranch equipment scattered about the property.

The windmill was pumping water to galvanized steel stock tanks. Deer appear to be using the water tanks.

The site is accessible from Forest Road FS172. The trip to the site requires a 45-60 minute drive in a high clearance vehicle on FS172 and then either a 1 mile hike down a closed service road or a 1.5 mile hike down Fraser Canyon on the Woodbury Trail. The road can wash out during wet weather.

To visit the area, drive east from Mesa, AZ on US 60 past Florence Junction and turn north (left) on Queen Valley Rd. Drive approx. 2 miles on Queen Valley Rd. then turn east (right) on Hewitt Station Rd.(FS357). Approximately 3 miles later, turn north (left) on FS172 and proceed around 9 miles to Woodbury Trailhead or the closed gate to the ranch access rd.

If you park at the closed gate, just cross the gate and walk down the access road (FS172B) to the ranch at the floor of the canyon. If you take the Woodbury Trail, park in the lot at the JF Trail/Woodbury trailhead and proceed north on a dirt road past a closed gate and down to the intersection of the JF Trail and Woodbury Trail then turn left (west) on the Woodbury trail and follow the trail down Fraser Canyon to the ranch. (There's also a windmill just north of the trail junction. It wasn't operating at last visit)
