As the Plaque Reads:

Doukhobor Heritage

In 1899 a group of Doukhorbors from Russia established the first village of Kirilovka, 1/2 mile west of here, the second village of Bogdanovka, 5 miles North-West and the third village of Pokrovka, 11 miles West.

These settlers, seeking religious freedom, thrived despite severe hardships, deprivations and cold.

This plaque is dedicated to the first pioneers and erected by the
Doukhobor Society of Langham.
