The Crown Mill was built in 1823-25. Next to the Crown Mill, the Eagle Mill was built in 1827. They were connected in 1851. Both mills were built by Robert Rogerson. The historic district includes the two mills and the surrounding houses and small businesses and stores. The district is virtually an intact 19th century mill village, with most of the buildings still remaining and hardly any modern additions to the district.
