The Church of St Nicholas and St John, Monkton Priory, features two War memorials on the South wall of the Nave. This WWII memorial is in the form of a brass plaque, engraved with the following text:
"In grateful memory of the Men of this Parish who gave their lives for this Country in the Second World war." Then five names are listed, & The sponsors name; presented by John Jenkins in memory of his Father
Francis David Jenkins.
The Brass plaque is mounted within a marble background frame.
The WWII plaque is positioned between two WWI memorial windows, below the WW1 plaque.
The Plaque is not listed on the Imperial War Museum Web site; (

From the Church Gazetteer;
"The ancient church was originally within the castle of Pembroke and given to the Norman abbey of St Martin (Sayes) in 1098. The north nave wall, with buttresses, is from the ancient church. After the dissolution of the monasteries the church deteriorated, with only the nave in use for the parish; the choir and sancturary lost and windows blocked up. In the late 1800s it was restored and enlarged. The church belongs to the Monkton Rectorial Benefice, with ten other churches." Text Source; (
