Mountain View Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Revelstoke and is about 5 acres in size. It is well maintained with large tree along most of the perimeter blocking the view from the street. It is partially fenced. Regular gate hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, however you can enter at any time using the small access gate at the entrance.
The first known interments were in 1917 and the cemetery is still active. The cemetery is divided into section and most of the gravestones are flush to the ground. In the older section there are some interesting old upright headstones. We did located one centenarian: Kay Beruschi who was 100 when she passed away June 3, 2014. There are approximately 700 burials.
Also within the cemetery is a memorial stone in Memory of the Unborn and a plaque for the Mount Cartier Cemetery and those who are interred here. There is a separate section for the individuals who were moved in preparation for the Arrow Lakes Reservoir.
