Welcome-Veetaymo
This traditional welcome with the bread and salt to all visitors is a universal custom and practice among Ukrainians and most Eastern European people, whose descendants have settled througout Canada.
To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Province of Saskatchewan and the town of Canora, this symbol has been erected through the efforts of the Canora Chamber of Commerce, the town of Canora, the province of Saskatchewan and many other organizations and inviduals.

1904 Canadian Northern Railway laid tracks through Canora, station was built and four blocks of the present townsite were surveyed

November 01, 1910 Incorporated as a Town
Origin of Town's Name
In commemoration of, and as a salut to the coming of the Canadian Northern Railway line to our area, Mr. Wilson Allan took the two letters of each word in the railway's official name and them to form "Canora"
