I have both posted and visited a bunch of U.S. Post Offices waymarks, but this was the first one that I can recall where the powers that be did not bother to put the zip code on the building. Usually it is there in large letters, and typically in the same font as the town name, etc. Anyway, this is the Anderson post office.

At Christmas time it is not as busy handling outgoing mail as you might think. That's because many of the residents trek on over to the nearby post office at Noel (pronounced Noll, except during the month of December -- I kid you not!), Missouri to have their letters stamped with Noel. This is actually a common practice in Southwest Missouri. Anderson is the largest city in McDonald County. It was the boyhood home (but not birthplace) of movie and television character actor Dabbs Greer, who is buried in Peace Valley Cemetery just north of Anderson. (He was born in the tiny town of Fairview in Newton County.)

The post office building is stand-alone and faced with brick. According to a sign affixed to it, it was erected by Metropolitan Construction Company of Kansas City, MO; but no date is given.
Type of structure:: Stand alone

re-enter Zip Code here:: 64831

Current Status:: Still in Use

Visit Instructions:
To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
