This is one of several unusual dedicated benches in Peace Valley Cemetery in that it serves as both a bench and a headstone. This long headstone/bench is for
Charles S. Elder, his wife
Elvira I. Elder, and their son
Milton J. Elder. Unlike the other combination bench/headstones, this one is in trouble. Its footing was not secured properly and it is leaning badly. This is one dedicated bench that I would not sit on. For now.
The inscription on the bench seat is, firstly, the family name ELDER across the top. In the middle is ELVIRA I. 1886 - 1968; followed by a heart encircling UNITED FOREVER; and on the right is CHARLES S. 1888 - 1966. On the left is the inscription: MILTON J. 1914 - 1977. Centered below those inscriptions is: AT REST IN JESUS' HOUSE.
