Equestrian statue of Bartolomé Mitre, main part of opulent monument devoted to this Argentinian political and military leader, is the key landmark of Plaza Mitre in Palermo district of Buenos Aires.

The monument (Monumento a Bartolomé Mitre), designed by Italian sculptors Davide Calandra and Edoardo Rubino, is located on Plaza Mitre, between Aguero streets and Dr. L. Agote and Libertador Avenue. The Mitre bronze equestrian statue stands on a polished red granite pedestal surrounded by allegories from snow-white Carrara marble. The over life size statue depicts Bartolomé Mitre in the saddle, weared in Argentinian army general uniform with hat in right hand. The monument was ceremonially unveiled on July 8th, 1927 by a speech by the Argentinian Minister of War, General Agustín P. Justo.

Bartolomé Mitre Martínez (26 June 1821 – 19 January 1906) was an Argentine statesman, military leader, historian and writer. He was the President of Argentina from 1862 to 1868.
