The milestone outside the Organ Grinder pub suggests that London is 118 miles away, and Loughborough is 9 miles away from this spot! Obviously not the case, as it is in the middle of Loughborough.
Apparently the milestone appeared here mysteriously one night during the time Harry Sheffield was the landlord (between 1912 and 1938), and may have come from Shardlow. Incidentally, Derby is part buried beneath the tarmac!
