Commissioned as part of the Olympic celibrations and refurbishment of part of Queens Park in Loughborough. Artist Peter Leadbeater http://www.peterleadbeater.com/gallery/small-outdoor-sculpture/

An information board nearby has this to say about the sculpture:
"The giant running shoes represent the idea of
'stepping into the shoes of giants'. To follow in the
footsteps of those who have achieved great things.
The Olympics is all about inspiration. Inspiring others
to strive to do their best. These have been skilfully
carved by artist Peter Leadbeater, a Nottingham based
artist who recently moved here from Kent and has
become part of our community."
