Gyro Park is nestled in a stand of evergreen trees and surrounded by deciduous trees that turn the landscape red and gold every fall, this park has a wide variety of native greenery to explore and enjoy.
Curving flower gardens outline the main area of the park which offers, during the spring, a spectacular array of colors from the many rhododendrons, azaleas and other flowering plants and shrubs.
Gyro Park's spectacular viewpoint takes full advantage of its central location and the physical characteristics of the rocky outcrop on which it is built. From this vantage point, it's possible to see the beautiful heritage downtown area of Nelson. The awe inspiring vista of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake is an added bonus to this beautiful park. If you follow the path over the foot bridge it will take you to this viewpoint, well worth the 500 metre walk. There is an earth cache and an artistic railing at this location.
In addition to Gyro Park beauty and well-manicured lawns there is a large playground, swimming pool and a gazebo for all to enjoy.
