With a decline in textiles in the area, the tax base has decreased. This, fortunately, has not deterred this community fire department from still achieving optimal service for it fire district. They continue to man 2 stations in the area and train frequently. They are in mutual aid agreements with many surrounding communities, larger and small. They enjoy a good measure of support from their community.
