Spanish American War Memorial honoring the soldiers from the Black Hills region who gave their lives in service to their country during the Spanish American War.  The memorial consists of a zinc/white bronze statue of a soldier wearing the appropriate era military uniform standing on a zinc/white bronze base.  The base is inscribed:

In Memory Of Black Hills Volunteers
Spanish-American War
1898 -- 1899

Dedicated To The Memory Of
Our Dead  Heroes.

Each side has plaques inscribed with names of soldiers from the area who gave their lives in service during the war.

The monument has the founders mark for the Western White Bronze Co., Des Moines, Iowa one of the predominate makers of zinc headstones and monuments.
