Palacio de Justicia de la Nación (known also under popular names Palacio de Tribunales or Tribunales de Talcahuano). is vast complex of court buildings was designed by French architect Norbert Maillart in 1889. Thanks to Baring crisis (1890) its construction began later, in 1905. First part of the Palace was ceremonially opened by President José Figueroa Alcorta in 1910, but court was finished in 1912, when the Supreme Court moved into the new part of the complex. Completion of the all premises was interrupted by WWI and further construction works were postponed to 1920's. The original Maillard's project was then modified "on the fly" due to the growth of administration, and main building was enlarged by adding of one floor. Neverending construction process was eventually finished in 1942.
After decades without proper maintenance, the main facades (street Talcahuano and Uruguay) were in bad condition, so the great reconstruction started in 2002 (...and were finished in 2013).
