Tucked down in the corner of
The Village of Pugwash, whay we have here is yet another of the 60s-70s brick cookie cutter post offices.
Settled in the mid to late 1700s, Pugwash became a prosperous shipbuilding and lumbering town, the lumbering half of which continues today. One of the major attractions of the village is
Thinkers Lodge, a National Historic Site and the site of the
Pugwash Conferences of Science and World Affairs. These conferences were the first conferences held to discuss Nuclear Disarmament, with scientists from both sides of the Iron Curtain participating. Similar conferences continue to be held to this day at Thinkers Lodge.
