[EN] Built in 1878 on the site of the old church became too small, St Martin's Church, neogothic style XIII century, still stands proudly today in the center of Noeux-les-Mines. Severely damaged by a shell in 1917, it was restored and reopened in 1921. During World War II, the church suffered minor damage. After the liturgical reform, significant changes are made in its furniture and its aesthetic. Finally in the 80, the church sees developing a fungus called dry rot. After long discussions, the municipality decides the restoration of the building. This restoration completed in 1993 caused the destruction of the Gothic arched ceiling in favor of a false ceiling giving right inside the church its present face.


[FR] Construite en 1878 à l'emplacement de l'ancienne église devenue trop petite, l'église St Martin, de style néogothique XIIIème siècle, se dresse encore aujourd'hui fièrement au centre de la ville de Noeux-les-Mines. Endommagée gravement en 1917 par un obus, elle est restaurée et réouverte en 1921. Durant la seconde guerre mondiale, l'église subit des dégats mineurs . Après la réforme liturgique, d’importantes modifications sont apportées dans son mobilier et son esthétique. Enfin dans les années 80, l’église voit se développer un champignon appelé mérule. Après de longues réflexions, la mairie décide la restauration du bâtiment. Cette restauration achevée en 1993 provoque la destruction du plafond gothique en ogive au profit d’un faux plafond droit donnant ainsi à l’intérieur de l’église son visage actuel.
