This pair, as well as the a of sequoiadendron giganteum, are a legacy of David and Peter Brown.
Back in 1893 the deaf twin brothers were given a large area of land by their pioneering father David Brown. The Brown twins then spent their lives travelling the world gathering seeds of different tree specimens and bringing them back to their property in South Surrey.
Today their work has been recognized by the City of Surrey in a 45 hectares (113 acres) park that is now essentially an arboretum of their dozens of different tree species, including a grove of very hard to photograph sequoiadendron giganteum.
