... pocátky poutního místa jsou spojeny s povestmi o zázracném kríži, který nechal na úpatí vrchu blízko Jiretína pod Jedlovou postavit v první tretine 17. století nejmladší syn protestantské rodiny Donthu. Pri ceste do exilu v Sasku se mu zdál sen, v nemž ho Ježíš na kríži vyzval k návratu. Modlitba u nove vztyceného kríže vrátila Donthovi zdraví.
O založení poutního místa se zasloužil hlavne farár Gottfried Liessner (zemrel 1787). Roku 1759 zapocal s výstavbou krížové cesty s jedenácti rokokovými výklenkovými kaplemi, postavenými na úpatí Krížové hory, a rokokovou kaplí Božího hrobu. Vysvecení krížové cesty se uskutecnilo 17. 9. 1764. Puvodní drevenou kapli z roku 1759 nad 12. a 13. zastavením krížové cesty znicila o dvacet let pozdeji vichrice, krucifix zustal nepoškozen.
Poutní kaple sv. Kríže se stavela v prubehu 2. poloviny 18. století. Roku 1783 byl položen základní kámen nového barokního kostela, k jeho dostavbe došlo roku 1796. Stavbu pozdržel nedostatek penez a zrušení kaple dekretem císare Josefa II. Teprve poté, co meštané z Jiretína p. J. stavbu vykoupili a venovali obci, mohlo dojít k dostavbe kaple. Nad hlavní oltár byl prenesen starý drevený kríž a obraz Panny Marie.
Vež v prucelí kaple sv. Kríže byla dostavena roku 1886. Západne od kostela byla v roce 1764 vyhloubena studna a roku 1869 postaven gloriet se sochou Neposkvrnené Panny Marie od Jakoba Groha z Rumburka.

... the beginnings of the pilgrimage site associated with tales of the miraculous cross which left at the foot of the hill near Jiretín pod Jedlovou built in the first third of the 17th century, the youngest son of a Protestant family Donthu. On the way to exile in Saxony, he had a dream in which he invited Jesus on the cross to return. Prayer for the newly erected crosses back Donthovi health.
The founding of the pilgrimage site is credited mainly pastor Gottfried Liessner (died 1787). 1759 began with the construction of the Cross with eleven rococo chapels and niches, built at the foot of the Cross Mountain, and the rococo chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. Cross consecration took place on 17. 9. 1764. The original wooden chapel from 1759 over the 12th and 13th stations of the cross destroyed twenty years later whirlwind crucifix remained unharmed.
Pilgrimage chapel of the Cross was built during the 2nd half of the 18th century. In 1783, the foundation stone of a new Baroque church, to its completion in 1796. The construction was delayed lack of money and the abolition of the chapel decree of Emperor Joseph II. Only after the townspeople of Jiretína p. J. bought the building and donated the village, could lead to the completion of the chapel. Above the main altar was brought an old wooden crucifix and a painting of the Virgin Mary.
