In the early days of building electric sub-stations, the buildings tended to be quite large and considered to be important community buildings.
This one stands in a small public park at the side of the main road through Cleckheaton and is a two storey building. In recognition of its importance the top of the building has been embellished with battlements.
These days some of the doors and windows have been infilled.
