EN: These remains of a Roman watchtower are located in a forest on the banks of the Rhine east of Möhlin.

The tower was built around the year 370 under Emperor Valentinian as part of the border fortifications against the Alemanni north of the Rhine. The tower originally had a square base of approximately 9 meters length. The greater part of the southern and eastern foundation walls are still standing. Notable are the well-preserved round cavities that originate from now decayed wooden reinforcement beams.

The ruin was already described in the 19th century. In 1918, it was exposed but not preserved before the 1950s.

Jahrhundert beschrieben. 1918 wurde sie freigelegt, aber erst um 1950 konserviert.
Most Relevant Historical Period: Roman Empire > 27 B.C.
