This work is one of dozens pieces by Icelandic artist Ásmundur Sveinsson for whom the adjacent Museum is named.
This 1940 sculpture is entitled "Dyrkun" which Google translates as "Worship".
The sculpture depicts a nude young mother, sitting with one knee propped up and an infant, perhaps 1-year old sitting on that knee with the woman holding the child by the back and head.
