In Stockton Springs, is Fort Point State Park, where there is a lighthouse, and a fog bell.

Fort Point State Park is located on a neck of land extending into Penobscot Bay. From US Route 1, go on the road heading to the center of Stockton Springs, north of the center turn east on a road heading generally east. Follow the road and signs to the park entrance. From the parking lot, walk a short distance through some fort ruins then turn left to a white building by the edge of a cliff and about 100 ft from the lighthouse.

The bell of the fog bell is visible on the side facing the water. It is solidly mounted on wooden cross beam. The clapper is still present. Nearby is a description of the entire apparatus, with a drawing that had both crude and detailed renderings. The bell was cast by the Blake Company in Boston. The bell fog tower was built in 1890. It first included a device, a Stevens Apparatus, that struck the bell. Later, a hammer replaced the earlier apparatus. the diagram shows how the bell was struck. During fog, the bell would be struck once per 20 seconds. The bell apparatus was replaced in 1960s.
