The last time this former Shell station was occupied, at least the last I remember, was a Stock Car Race team had it as their headquarters.
This was a Shell station, and the motel just to the west of it, made them joined at the hip in business.
Just to the east of this station (if you look at Google) is an empty lot [all green] with gravel driveways going all the way around it. This was the site f the Famous Big Boys Restaurant, family dining and all-you-can-eat chicken. A big draw in the 30s, 40s & 50s.
The three businesses together made them the choice of travelers to spend the night, fuel up the car and themselves.
