An information plaque identifies Tree of Life as mural #1 created by High School Learning Center Students in conjunction with the Rockwell Art Museum's Alley Art Project. A maple tree is depicted displaying its appearance during all four seasons. The lower branches represent winter. spring and fall occupy the middle of the tree, and summer the crown.

Within the exposed roots is a fetus on the background of a world globe and the word GROWTH. The roots are labelled: MUTUAL RESPECT, SHARED RESPONSIBILITY, COMMITMENT, SELF-DISCIPLINE, CITIZENSHIP, LEADERSHIP, INTEGRITY, ?, EXCELLENCE.

Various symbols appear on the bark of the tree including a Yin-Yang:, turtle with world peace logo and heart. Gull shaped black birds fly overhead.
