The International Friendship Garden was initiated by Abbotsford’s Sister-city Committee to celebrate the City’s long term relationship with the City of Fukugawa, Japan. It's intend was to promote cultural diversity in the community - which Abbotsford certainly has in spades. Within this park is the "Golden Tree" Memorial.

Take a moment to take in the peacefulness of this location and the NEW monument in its centre - the "Golden Tree". The quite spectacular Golden Tree was unveiled in the summer of 2015 memorializing three woman farm workers killed in a tragic accident on Highway One. The tree is quite stunning, especially when the sun hits it just the right way! You will discover some unique features in the tree if you take the time to observe the tree carefully.

Please respect this beautiful little oasis in the city. Please leave it cleaner then you found it. Bill and Jackie Betts whom adopted this park, promising to keep it clean, will appreciate your help.
