Josephine Bobbe Brock Van Heusen, whose original name was Josephine Brock, was the middle 1/3 of the "Brox Sisters".
The trio was raised in Edmonton, Alberta, but were U.S. born; Josephine in Memphis Tennessee on Nov 28, 1901. They changed their name to Brox after a producer told them the shorter spelling would look best on a marquee. Josephine changed her first name to Dagmar, then to Bobbe, her younger sister Kathleen to Patricia, oldest sister Eunice became Lorayne. Josephine had one son, William Brock Perlberg, during her first marriage to film producer William Perlberg which ended in divorce in the 1960s, she then married songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen in 1969.
The Brox Sisters, forerunners of singing sister groups such as the Andrew Sisters, first became famous in 1921 in New York at the Music Box Theater with their version of "Everybody Step", written by Irving Berlin. The Trio appeared in half a dozen movies in the 20s and 30s with such stars as Bing Crosby and the Marx Brothers, they introduced the classic "Singin' in the Rain", and performed in the Ziegfeld Follies; they also made many recordings in the 1920s. The Trio stopped performing in the early 1930's and united only one more time for a 1939 radio broadcast tribute to Irving Berlin.
Mrs. Van Heusen died in Glen Falls, N.Y at 98.
Coincidentally, I share the same birth day as her.
