LINA EINSTEIN
Lina Einstein, cousin of the famous physicist Albert Einstein, was born on 11.16.1875 in Ulm, the second daughter of the spouses August Ignatz Einstein (1841, Bad Buchau - 1911, Tübingen) and Hanna Bertha Einstein, born as Perlen (1845 Esslingen - 1902, Ulm). In the birth register of the Jewish community there is also the Hebrew first name Rivka. The Einstein family came from Bad Buchau.

The Einsteins were economically varying in degrees of success. Linas father was one of the more poorer family members, moved again and joined the profession. Linas older sister Clara (1872, Ulm - 1918, Neu-Ulm) died, according to the memory of a granddaughter of a friend of the family of an overdose of caffeine. The younger sister Anna was born in 1880 in Ulm. From 02/19/1900 to 08/26/1907, she worked as up later at Wieland Werke also Lina itself.

Lina worked from 1897 at the company "Brothers Landauer", a department store. 1901 she joined the firm of J. Arnold Dry Laundry and dyeing and became store manager. On 01/08/1904 she entered as telephone operator at a Wieland Werke in Ulm, where already worked her sister Anna. In her spare time Lina Theater played. 1931 Lina moved in the Herdbrucker Street 1. Approximately at the site of today's city park (on the corner to the market place was a bit narrower than it is today) were in the road Herdbrucker three very small, modest houses. House No. 1 was only one room wide and the toilet was in the stairwell. Lina befriended the family Levy from the Herdbrucker Straße 8 at exactly opposite.

On 05/31/1937 Lina Einstein retired. She received 40 RM pension from the Wieland Foundation. In 1940 she was placed forcibly in the Jewish old people's home Oberstotzingen. On 08/18/1942 she had to sign a "Home Purchase Agreement" more than 2,800 RM for Theresienstadt.

At 19/08 she was transported from Oberstotzingen to the collection camp Killesberg. On 08/22/1942 the deportation was carried out to Theresienstadt. Fanny Totschek recalls: "The friendship between Lina and my grandparents was so intimately that my grandparents without Lina Germany did not want to leave and then made the ordeal through Theresienstadt to Treblinka together with her. [...] The transport in the "Viehzug" was especially for Lina certainly the hell because she was a ponderous woman. All three were not yet 70, so no old men, but were then considered as such. "
