"Taylor's Bell Foundry In Loughborough is one of only two remaining in the whole country. In 1881 It cast a 16 ton bell for St Paul's Cathedral In London, known as "Great Paul." Its Journey to London took 11 days by road and was pulled on a trailer by a traction engine.
Modern day Loughborough folk saw the bell case on display in public temporarily In Loughborough Market Place during 2010 and a survey was carried out to ask residents where they would like to see the bell case on display in the town. This resulted In Loughborough Queen's Park being chosen to display the unique bell case of "Great Paul" during 2013 in the "Town of Bells." "

The giant cast-iron case was cast for the town's Taylor's Bell Foundry in 1881 to create the 16-ton bell.

For years it remained hidden, but it is now on public display on a plinth outside Charnwood Museum in the park, in the footprint of the Carillon Tower.
