The Carillon Tower was built as a War Memorial by public subscription in memory of the 480 men of the town who fell in the Great War.

The memorial carillon or bell tower is constructed of local bricks and houses 47 bells of varying size and weight. The tower also houses museum room. It has a copper-covered balcony at the top of the tower with views over city.
