The church is attached to the Remptorist Monastery in North Perth.
The Monastery was built in the Federation Gothic style from locally quarried limestone for the Redemptorist Order of the Roman Catholic Church. The Order had been established in Western Australia in 1899. The church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul was completed in 1903,the Monastery East Wing additions in 1911/12 and the Chapel sanctuary and transcript in 1922
