Nathaniel Parks was born in 1775 in what was West Springfield and is now Holyoke, MA. On March 21, 1794, while he was hunting, he was accidentally shot and killed by Luther Frink. His brownstone grave marker is located behind and very close to a shrub in Elmwood Cemetery. The stone is engraved with the image of a winged cherub and has the following inscription:

In Memory of
Mr. Nath'l Parks
AEt 19, who on
21st March 1794
being out a hunt
ing and conceal'd
in a ditch was
casually shot by
Mr. Luther Frink

Luther Frink is buried at the north end of the same cemetery. He died at age 82 in 1853.
