In Blue Hill, at the Blue Hill Public Library, is this sculpture that is titled (Two Heads) in the Smithsonian Art Inventory.

The library is located at 5 Parker Hill Road, near the corner with Maine Street. The library is a brick building with Greek pilasters as part of the trimming. The sculpture is located along the south side of the library, near the walkway leading to the entrance from the parking lot.

The sculpture is made of stone and is about 3 ft. 4 in. x 2 ft. 8 in. x 1 ft. 3 in as reported in the inventory - though I think the 1 ft. 3 inches is more like 2 ft. The square base is a dark material that is almost flush to the ground. The sculpture is of two heads, merged side-to-side, facing opposite directions. One head has eyes closed, and one has eyes opened. Lines on the top and back suggest hair.

The inventory mentions the address as the Leighton Gallery, Parker Point Road. The library has been here since the 1940s, I conclude that the sculpture was moved since the inventory. The photos in the inventory also show a slightly different base from the one today.

The inventory does not indicate when the sculpture was created. The inventory date was entered, instead.

DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH:
The location is different. The sculpture has probably been moved since the inventory was taken. Also, the photos in the inventory show stone slabs under the stone base.
