New Marker erected in 2012 is the History of Treloar
The Treloar Depot (now gone) was built when the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad passed through, this is when the town became established.
The towns only existance, back then, was a stop on the railraod, where they picked up milk, grain, tobacco and freight from farmers, and dropped off mercantile. [You will see in the photos, that the bank and mercantile store were the only brick buildings constructed.]
Tobacco processing to ship and sell, in Missouri used a process developed in Wentzville, MO.
First the tobacco was put into a steam box, which held about 200 pounds of tobacco.
From the steam box it was taken to the stemmers, who removed the midribs and stems of the tobacco leaves.
After that, it was dipped in a solution of salt, sugar, licorice; the tobaccos then went through the wringer and placed on racks in the dry room.
From the dry room it was returned to the steam room and gathered into bulk bundles and weighed. Then sent to the plug machine. There it was pressed, made into cakes, packed into wrappers and tagged. Now the tobaccos was ready to be stmped and shipped to the buyers.
Treloar was one of these shipping points on the Katy Railway.
From another WM on mine:
County of bank: Warren County
Location of bank: Koch Creek Rd., on the Katy Trail,
Treloar's population is under 100
I can find nothing on the bank itself. The building is owned by Jim Edgar
Additional photo in the snow here: Treloar
I can find absolutely nothing on this bank
The "Post Office" here, is not open to the public, but rather best called a relay point.
