The plaque on the tower of the Great Church in Meppel reminds the population of Meppel to all who during the occupation by acts of war were killed and the final victory on the Germans.
The monument to the tower of the Great Church in Meppel exists is made of a bronze plaque which reads:
13 May 1940 - 10 April 1945
Enslaved ... oppressed ...
NEITHER DO stooping
NEITHER THE FIGHT EVER shunned.
BRONZE WITH SOUND TO THANK GOD
AND ... WHAT DID HEROES.
