To Santo Antão, one of the most populated islands of Cape Verde, this ferry terminal is paramount. This is specially because due to extreme weather conditions, this island is one of the two which does not have an airport.
So everybody coming in or out of the island will have to go through the terminal to go to Mindelo. The cargo movement is interesting: being a farming place, Santo Antão provides vegetables and fruits to the rest of the country, specially to the neighbor São Vicente and its big town Mindelo. When the ferry comes the other way around, towards Santo Antão, the vehicles arrive loaded with manufactured goods brought from Mindelo.
In 2015 the ticket was 800 Escudos (about 8 Eur) and there were two daily trips (morning and afternoon).
There is a nice restaurant and cafe in the terminal and a gift shop with good materials for tourists (maps, hiking manuals, etc).
It's a brand new terminal featuring probably the only escalators in the country.
