The history of Pitman funeral dates back to 1922 when the business was first established by Tarlton E.and Anetta M.Pitman. In 1955, their son T. Jim Pitman became active in managing the funeral home. Today his son, Eric, owns and operates the family business. The original building in Wentzville still stands, but has been converted into a different use.

After Eric assumed control, he began buying old, small family funeral homes in the small village and towns of Warren County. He keeps them open and operating- saving family member of the passed from having to travel 20 miles or more for funeral services.
