There used to be gallows on one of the Oslavany hills where the capital right was applied.The local executioner was not very wealthy because only a few executions took place there. Sometimes whipping or denunciation was carried out there. One day a big execution was planned to be carried out. People from all directions came to see it. The executioner came to the place of execution fully prepared, with a red hood on his head, and approached to perform his duty. Suddenly a messenger on a horse came to the gallows and said to the people that he had brought a reprieve for the condemned criminal. The executioner swore, pulled his hood off, threw it away in anger and left the place. Nobody from Oslavany has seen the executioner since than.

Na jednom z oslavanských kopcu stávala šibenice a uplatnovalo se zde právo hrdelní. Kat nebyl nijak zámožný, protože poprav zde probíhalo jen málo. Obcas nejaké to mrskání, nebo stavení k pranýri. Jednoho dne však mela nastat velká poprava. Lidé se na ni sebehli ze všech stran. Kat prišel na popravište v plné paráde, s cervenou kládou na hlave a jal se konat svoji povinnost. Znenadání však prijel posel na koni a oznámil shromáždeným, že priváží milost pro odsouzeného zlotrilce. Kat zaklel, strhnul svoji kuklu, v hnevu ji zahodil a odešel. Nikdo z oslavanských kata už od té doby nevidel.
