The Sequoia is located at the southern part of the Arboretum Poortbulten, in the coniferous tree section. The tree was imported by ship from California around 1910, when the Arboretum was first established.
The plaque next to the tree reads the name of the tree in different languages and shows a catalog number (--LOS0981).
The tree is one of the stops along the Springer Route, a hiking trail through the park dedicated to the designer of the Arboretum, Leonard A. Springer. Since 2013 the tree is adopted by a local contractor.
