Charakter zdejších porostu odráží orientaci a sklon svahu, hloubku, vlhkost pudního profilu a geologické podloží. Zatímco vetšina Hádecké plošiny je budována prvohorními vápenci, zde v její dolní cásti, vystupují na hranách príkrých svahu až na povrch horniny brnenského granitoidního masivu (horniny obdobné žule) staré približne 590 milionu let. Svahové pudym které se na tomto podkladu vyvíjejí, mají proto odlišné vlastnosti - jsou melké, kyselé a málo úživné.
Výskyt nekterých teplo a svetlomilných druhu je dokladem drívejších odlesnení okolí hradu, které bylo nezbytné jak z duvodu obrany, tak z hospodárské potreby hradu.

Features local vegetation reflects the orientation and slope, depth, soil moisture profile and bedrock. While most Hádecká platform is built Palaeozoic limestone, here at the bottom, stand on the edges of steep slopes up to the surface granitic rocks of the Brno massif (rock similar to granite) Old approximately 590 million years. Slope soil which on this basis develop, thus have different properties - are shallow, acidic and slightly úživné.
The incidence of some warmth and heliophilous species is evidence of past deforestation around the castle, which was necessary for reasons of both defense and economic needs of the castle.
