Homestake Mining Co. Engine No. 2 is most likely a H. K. Porter compressed air locomotive produced in the early 1900's. Compressed air locomotives were in use int the 1960's. This unit can only be viewed if you take the "Homestake Gold Mine Tour".

It is an interesting tour well worth the price of admission, departs from the Homestake Visitors Center.
