Located in front of the R.C. Baker Memorial Museum are a number of dedicated trees. Four trees along Elm Street are dedicated to George Lacey and contain small plaques monumented on the sidewalk near the trees' base and they read:
In Memory Of
GEORGE LACEY
From His Friends
George lived from 1921 to 1992. George is best known as the owner of the popular town eatery, Lacey's Cafe which operated at the corner of 6th and Elm Streets from 1968 to 1983, when it was destroyed by the major earthquake to hit the town that year. Before the building operated as Lacey's Cafe, it was known as the Crescent Meat Co. which operated from 1906 until 1968, when George Lacey bought the site.
