Cut benchmark & 1GL bolt on St Mary's church tower, NW angle of buttress, NE face, NW angle. The bolt is missing, but the hole to the left of the mark indicates where it used to be.

"This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 268.1220 feet [81.7236 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Coventry to Lincoln levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 35. Bolt in North-east angle of Broughton Astley Church tower ; 2.59 ft. above surface"
