Birla Mandir Jaipur is a Hindu temple which is part of one of the several Birla mandirs located all around India. The temple is sometimes also referred to as the Lakshmi Narayan Temple.

The shrine to Lord Shiva is located on the north side of the temple. It is the first shrine we meet when we arrive on the site. The white four-handed statue is holding the trident with his upper right hand and the Damaru on his upper left hand. Shiva is shown seated in half lotus pose, wearing bracelets and a serpent necklace and wearing, as shorts, the tiger skin.

Shiva also known as Mahadeva ("Great God"), is one of the three deities of Hinduism. Shiva is distinct from Vishnu and Brahman yet one with them. He is "Anant" [Who is neither found born nor found dead]. He is the supreme god within Shaivism, one of the three most influential denominations in contemporary Hinduism. He is one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta Tradition, and "the Destroyer" or "the Transformer".

The main iconographical attributes of Shiva are the third eye on his forehead, the snake Vasuki around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the trishula (trident) as his weapon and the damaru as his musical instrument. Shiva is usually worshiped in the aniconic form of Lingam.
