Jag Mandir is a palace built on an island on Lake Pichola in Udaipur. It is also called the "Lake Garden Palace".
Jag Mandir Palace was the inspiration behind the world famous Taj Mahal in Agra. The young Shaw Jahan once visited Jag Mandir and was so impressed by the building that he used it as one of the models for his own Taj Mahal. A model of the Taj Mahal can be seen inside a small building in Jag Mandir.
Jag Mandir is approached only by boat from the Bansi Ghat jetty next to the City Palace in Udaipur. It was an enjoyable boat ride on Lake Pichola and a nice but too short stop on the island.
