An oil-on-canvas mural by Xavier Gonzales, a native of Spain. Work commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts and was completed in 1942. Originally hung in the Mission Post Office. Now displayed in a museum.

Mural depicts a Texas Ranger resting by the Rio Grande. There is a village of adobe buildings across the river. He is standing next to his horse near a barb wire fence. There is a cow skull at the right of the man and in the background are some loose mustangs.
