Rýmarov (German: Römerstadt) is a town in the Bruntál District, Moravian-Silesian Region.
Until 1918, Römerstadt was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), head of the district of the same name, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.
In 1938, it was occupied by the Nazi army as one of the municipalities in Sudetenland.

On May 17, 1939, there were 5,859 inhabitants, and on May 22, 1947 there were 4,230 inhabitants. About 98% of the town's population were German-speaking. However, in execution of the Beneš decrees, the entire German population, with the exception of a few skilled workers, was forcibly deported to Germany and Austria in 1945. Today the town, renamed Rymarov, is overwhelmingly Czech-speaking.

První písemná zmínka o obci pochází z roku 1351. V roce 1406 se Rýmarov stal mestem.
Dne 3. dubna 1790 postihl mesto nicivý požár, pri kterém shorely témer všechny domy. Po této události bylo mesto znovu postaveno v duchu klasicismu a empíru.

V roce 1938 se stal Rýmarov jako pohranicní mesto soucástí Ríše. Pocátkem kvetna 1945 bylo mesto osvobozeno. Nemecké obyvatelstvo bylo na základe Benešových dekretu podrobeno odsunu.

Po zrušení Zeme moravskoslezské v roce 1949 se Rýmarov stal soucástí Olomouckého kraje.
