With delicious food and a unique atmosphere, Arnaud’s restaurant delights all the senses. So, it was the perfect fit when Postlethwaite & Netterville presents “An Evening Benefiting Lighthouse Louisiana” took over a portion of the restaurant. Shrimp Clemenceau, pork tenderloin, shrimp corndogs, oysters on the half shell, turtle soup, bananas Foster, salted caramel squares and other morsels were just part of this fête’s appetizing fare. Perfect Presentations also got into the sensory act with beautiful floral arrangements in red and white placed throughout, while The Gumbo Pot Trio’s traditional jazz music entertained. As this is a benefit, there was a silent auction, but this one was a little different, as the focus was on ceramics created exclusively for the event by Lighthouse Louisiana’s visually impaired clients. A wine pull — offering 70 chances to win a bottle of wine — and raffles, including a Cartier Tank watch and a home dinner for eight by an Arnaud’s chef, raised more funds.
Longtime Lighthouse supporters, Arnaud’s Katy Casbarian and her mother, Jane Casbarian, reveled in their hosting duties (Katy is also the Lighthouse Board Chairperson), and party guests included Lighthouse President Renee Vidrine; Lighthouse Board Chairperson-Elect Curtis Eustis and Celeste Eustis; Fran and George Villere; Donna and Paul Flower; Rubie Bell; Tabby George and Charlie Marts; Cathy and Dr. Charles Glaser; Sara and Ryan Gootee; Erica and James Reiss; Enola and Joey Richard; Todd Tournillon; Sharon Cassiere; Dr. Sean O’Sullivan; Dr. Marie Acierno; Gary Reynolds; James Slaton; Nancy and Jon Packard; Christina Terry; Marguerite Armitage; Susan Pereiraâ?¨ and Louisiana Education Superintendent John White with Jane Heidingsfelder.
Formerly Lighthouse for the Blind in New Orleans, the renamed Lighthouse Louisiana can better demonstrate that it offers those who are blind, but also deaf and have other disabilities with help finding jobs, and holding classes to increase independence and self-sufficiency. The name change also shows that the group’s range has expanded beyond the New Orleans area."
