The tech talk
This web camera was created by a student at Sackville School for an A-Level Computer Science project. It runs off a Raspberry Pi computer with a PiCamera module. The software is programmed in Python, and all the photos are uploaded to the internet using FTP.
About the webcam
The webcam points over the East Court terraces, East Court recreation ground, and Ashplats Wood. The webcam system is now being run by the East Grinstead Town Council. The webcam is positioned in the window of a Grade II listed building which is home to the council.
The webcam in local media
Since the webcam was launched, it has appeared on some local news websites. One of which is East Grinstead Online (http://www.eastgrinsteadonline.com/2015/12/16/eyes-of-the-world-on-the-east-court-web-cam/). An article is also due to appear in the East Grinstead Courier soon.
