Basically, what Trek did in 2010 was to absorb the Gary Fisher stand-alone mountain bike name into the Trek brand name starting in 2011.
Gary Fisher was a pioneer in creating the mountain bike in the 1970s and although he didn't coin the term, he played a major role in creating bike parts and finetuning the mountain bike into what it has become today.
